Fixed Dentures Immediately? The Truth About All-on-4 Immediate Dentures

Many of our patients arrive with the question: is it possible to get fixed dentures immediately, that is, on the day of the surgery? Promises circulating on the internet often suggest that you can leave with a seemingly permanent set of teeth right after implant placement. Although it is technologically possible to create a quick replacement immediately using 3D printing, at our clinic, we have chosen a safer path in the interest of quality and long-term success.

With us, fixed teeth placed on immediate loading implants are completed within 72 hours. Why? Because we do not provide a 3D printed denture, but rather a screw-retained acrylic denture made in a laboratory environment using a precision process. This ensures a more accurate fit, greater durability, and significantly better aesthetics than quick-printed alternatives.

Here is the detailed schedule and the stages of creating the All-on-4 immediate denture at our clinic:

1. The Planning Phase: The Foundation of Precision

Successful full mouth rehabilitation begins with thorough planning. The first step is a specialist consultation combined with a CT scan.

  • We take high-resolution photos and digital scans.
  • We prepare a preliminary smile design so you can see the expected result.
  • In the case of guided surgery (Nobel X-Guide): We plan the position of the implants digitally with sub-millimeter precision, avoiding risky anatomical structures.

2. Surgery Day: Implantation and Precision Impression

This is the day of change. If there are any unsalvageable teeth, we remove them and place the implants.

  • We screw the so-called multi-unit abutments onto the implants (these ensure that the fixed denture can be secured).
  • Taking the impression: In this phase, we take a precision impression to ensure a perfect, tension-free fit. Although our clinic is equipped with the most modern digital scanners, for this specific work phase, according to the current state of technology, a physical impression guarantees the most reliable result for creating the laboratory acrylic denture.

3. The Next Day: Bite Registration (The Key to Accuracy)

Why don’t we do it on the same day? Because the anesthesia after surgery makes bite registration difficult.

  • By the next day, the effect of all anesthetics wears off, and the facial muscles regain their natural tone.
  • At this time, the bite position is much more accurate, so the resulting fixed prosthesis will be more comfortable and will not cause jaw joint problems later.

4. Third Day: The Try-in

On this day, we do not try in the finished denture yet, but a version fixed in wax. This is a “dress rehearsal”:

  • We check the aesthetics: do you like the shape and position of the teeth?
  • We check the bite functionally.
  • If any modification is needed, we can easily do it here. This step guarantees that the temporary denture being delivered will be perfect.

5. Fourth Day: Delivery

At the end of the 72-hour process, the fixed, screw-retained acrylic dentures are ready.

  • We secure these in the mouth.
  • In terms of aesthetics and durability, this denture far surpasses most “immediate” solutions, so you can smile confidently during the healing period as well.

6. Fifth Day: Check-up and Education

The final step is for safety.

  • We check the surgical area and the function of the denture.
  • We teach special cleaning techniques (use of Superfloss, oral irrigator), as proper oral hygiene is the secret to the long lifespan of dental implants.

What Happens Next? The Final Denture

The 3-5 months following the surgery is the period of so-called osseointegration (bone fusion), while the implants stabilize in the bone. This is the real All-on-4 healing time. Once this has taken place, we can prepare the final bridges, the material of which can be chosen:

  • Monolithic zirconia (extremely strong and aesthetic),
  • Zirconia-ceramic (natural-looking appearance),
  • Or metal-ceramic (a budget-friendly solution).
